A still from ‘Michael Madana Kamaraju’ Film: Michael Madana Kamaraju Cast: Prabhudeva, Sunil, Srikant Direction: Nidhi Prasad Four characters spill mirth in Michael Madana Kamaraju, a Kamal Hassan starrer but this one by Nidhi Prasad (who directed Bagyalakshmi Bumper Draw and Andaru Dongale) has three people Michael (Prabhu Deva), Madan (Srikant) and Kamaraju (Sunil) all engrossed in finding the love of their lives in their own special ways. This story bears no resemblance to the original, it has Madan, a fashion designer who considers love a taboo but eventually falls for Archana (Charmme), his subordinate. He finds himself in a piquant situation unable to express his feelings and Kamaraju, his cousin, tries to help him by hatching a plan. He prints an invitation card of Archana and a stranger (Michael) and tells Madan that they are getting married and in this melee Michael tries to take advantage of Madan and Archana and what follows is a comedy of errors. While the first one hour is utilised in establishing Madan’s character, the second half shows how he struggles to proclaim his love and how Michael tries to cash on the situation. While these two characters hog the limelight, Kamaraju’s role is not etched properly. Prabhu Deva comes in late, his introduction a little earlier could have made the lengthy second half interesting. Different lookBrahmanandam and Kota Srinivasa Rao wow the crowds again and the rest of the comedians too do a good job. Charmme looks glamorous and Asha Saini pleases the front benchers. Srikant gets a different look with hair dyed in red and he is the only man who looks dull amongst all the comedians. The dream duets are unbearable, editing is jerky and photography is okay. Nidhi Prasad does an okay job but he could have avoided the embarrassing dialogues, looks like he aimed at the B and C class mass audiences. While screenplay is good, he loses control over the finale. Over all the film is average and good time pass. Y. SUNITA CHOWDHARY
