BCs’ appeal to Chiru

VIZIANAGARAM: If Chiranjeevi, film actor, were to float a party as an alternative to Congress and Telugu Desam the backward classes who were so far neglected by both the parties would surely govern the State, felt V.G.R. Naragoni, state president of B.C. Aikhya Sangarshana Samiti.

Speaking at the samiti meeting here on Saturday, Mr. Naragoni, while welcoming Mr. Chiranjeevi to jump into active politics, said that because the Congress and the TDP had neglected the community they were now looking for an alternative. Both the governments failed to give equal representation on the basis of population to BCs and other communities in the Legislature.

At present, two communities alone were governing Andhra Pradesh, he said and added that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s ‘jalayagnam’, Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme and other welfare programmes would not have effect if Chiranjeevi were to launch party.
