Concern over arrest of veteran journalist

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Union of Journalists has expressed concern over the arrest of Mehruddin Khan, veteran journalist and poet, for a newspaper report on alleged high-handedness of the police at Muzaffarnagar in U.P.

The DUJ has called upon the Mayawati Government to immediately intervene in the matter and also appealed to the National Human Rights Commission to take suo motu action. It has demanded immediate release of Dr. Mehruddin and stringent action against the guilty police officers.
