Loan waiver scheme benefited 78 lakh farmers in the State, says Chief Minister Red gram, edible oil will be supplied through ration shops from next month
warm Welcome: Kamalapuram MLA G. Veerasiva Reddy garlanding Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at a Praja Patham public meeting at Yerraguntla in Kadapa district on Saturday. YERRAGUNTLA (KADAPA DT.): Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Saturday promised crop loans to farmers at ‘pavala vaddi’ from next year. Addressing a public meeting in Praja Patham programme at Yerraguntla, he said the United Progressive Alliance had reduced interest on crop loans to seven per cent, from 13 to 15 per cent prevalent in the NDA rule. Moreover, the UPA Government recently extended a Rs. 60,000-crore loan waiver to farmers. The loan waiver amounting to Rs. 12,000 crores in Andhra Pradesh benefited 78 lakh farmers, out of a total of 1.05 crore farmers. Though the Government cannot refund the loans paid by the remaining farmers, Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy said the Government was proposing to benefit them to an extent of Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,000. Praja Patham was being implemented in the scorching summer as people would face problems on account of scarcity of drinking water, power supply problems, lack of work and consequent migration of labour, he said and assured to resolve the problems. The Chief Minister sought people’s blessings considering his dedicated efforts to assist all sections. Recalling TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks when free power supply was promised, Dr. Reddy said his Government has been successfully extending qualitative free power supply since four years. In addition to 20 kgs. of rice at Rs. 2-a-kg, the Government would supply red gram at Rs. 35-a- kg and edible oil at Rs. 45-a-kg from next month, thereby supplying the monthly ration as a package for Rs. 120, he said. Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi, Sarvarayasagar and Vamikondasagar projects would be completed. Announcing sanction of Rs. 1 crore for improving drainage facility in Yerraguntla, he assured to establish Government junior and degree colleges and ITI at Yerraguntla and construct electrical sub-stations wherever needed. He assured to develop Kadapa-Tadpatri State highway into a four-lane road. Kamalapuram MLA G. Veerasiva Reddy described YSR as pro-farmer and said he granted Rs. 6 crores from CM’s Relief Fund to needy people of Kamalapuram constituency so far. Jammalamadugu MLA C. Adinarayana Reddy said YSR rule ushered in a new era of development. Irrigation projects for which Rajya Sabha member M.V. Mysoora Reddy staged agitations in the past were being completed, he said. MLC P. Subba Reddy demanded grant of pollution allowance to employees at Yerraguntla, who were affected by cement dust emission from factories. Kadapa MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, Collector M.T. Krishna Babu, Joint Collector M. Girijasankar and others participated.
