DEADLY FIRE: The house at Peenya II Stage, Ramanna Layout, Heggannahalli Main Road, where fire broke out because of cooking gas leak, in Bangalore on Saturday. Bangalore: A four-year-old boy died and six others were injured when a gas leak caused a fire at a neighbour’s house in Rajagopalnagar, Peenya II Stage. The police identified the boy as Venugopal, son of Govindraj and Hemavathi who stayed next door to the house where the accident took place. Venugopal died in hospital while his parents are severely burned. The house where the gas leak occurred was rented by Sudhakar, a tea vendor. On Saturday morning, when Sudhakar lit the gas stove to prepare tea, there was a blast as the gas which had accumulated caught fire, injuring Sudhakar and his wife Shakuntala. The police said the gas might have leaked through cylinder pipe and accumulated as the kitchen window was closed. Adjacent houses were affected by the blast. All the injured were taken to the Victoria Hospital. Rajagopalnagar police have registered a case.
