Driver robbed near GPO

Bangalore: A car driver was robbed of his cash near General Post Office (GPO) Circle on Friday night. The police gave the name of Lokanath, a resident of Kyathamaranahalli, as the victim.

The police said that Lokanath was returning home after dropping a passenger at the airport when the incident occurred. When he arrived at the GPO Circle, three persons who were riding two motorcycles stopped him and threatened him at a knifepoint and made away with Rs. 1,500 in cash. Cubbon Park police have registered a case.

Thefts

In two incidents in the same locality, burglars made away with mobile phones and cash from two different houses in Mathikere, SBM Colony on Friday.

In one of the incidents, burglars gained entrance into a house belonging to Baba Khalandar, a techie, and made away with a mobile phone and cash.

The police said that Mr. Khalandar was sleeping at his residence in 4th Cross, SBM Colony, keeping the doors open. The burglars made away with a mobile phone and Rs. 8,000 in cash.

In another incident, burglars made away with Rs. 1,000 in cash and a cellphone from a house located in 2nd Cross, SBM Colony. The police said the burglars cut the window grills when Raghunath was asleep and made away with cash and a mobile phone.

Chain snatched

An elderly woman was robbed of her chain by two persons on Friday.

The police said that Shakunthala (65), a resident of Nagarabhavi, was returning home after visiting a Hanuman temple. Two persons who were riding a motorcycle snatched her gold chain estimated at Rs. 16,000 and fled in their motorcycle.

Suicide

A 42-year-old cook committed suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling at a residence in Jayanagar IV Block on Saturday moring. The police gave the name of the deceased as Ravi.
