Arrest of ryots for power pilferage criticised
HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party has flayed the arrest of 18 farmers on the charge of drawing electricity illegally in eight villages of Moinabad mandal in Ranga Reddy district.
In a statement issued here on Friday, party Ranga Reddy in-charge Baddam Bal Reddy said the victims had applied for power connections and even submitted the demand drafts for the prescribed fee. As there was delay in fixing meters, the farmers reportedly drew power.
He said it was unfortunate that some persons were manhandled on the grounds they had questioned the officials for arresting the villagers.
