Foundation for CII training centre

KANCHEEPURAM: The foundation for a centre to conduct grassroots level skill development initiative training programme of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for rural youth was laid at Seekinakuppam in Cheyyur taluk on Saturday.
The centre will focus on skills training, rural business development programmes, career counselling and health and nutrition awareness. It will have infrastructure to conduct training for 200 youths a batch, said G.R.K. Reddy, CII’s Chennai zone chairman and chairman and managing director of MARG Limited.
Talking to reporters after the inauguration, Mr. Reddy said the company, in collaboration with the CII, initiated the programme in the Cheyyur taluk in June last year and had trained 800 youths so far. The centre would come up on 2,000 square feet, at an initial investment of Rs.25 lakh.
Kancheepuram Collector Santosh K. Misra and Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation Managing Director N. Muruganandam inaugurated a rural job fair organised under the programme.
