HASSAN: The former MLA H.S. Prakash has called upon people with disabilities to utilise the facilities extended by the government. Inaugurating the Hassan Jilla Angavikalara Sangha here on Sunday, he lauded the efforts of people with disabilities who are striving hard in this scientific age. They too have made their mark in the fields of IT and BT. The function was organised by the Hassan Jilla Angavikalara Sangha and Angavikala Bank Naukarara Abhivrudhi Okkoota, Mangalore. A.C. Rai, president of the okkoota said that after starting bank for physically impaired, there was good response. He wanted that the 3 per cent reservation for physically challenged in Government jobs should be implemented. He suggested separate reservation for hearing and speech impaired people dand physically challenged persons. Mr. Rai said when physically impaired approached banks for loan, the only loan they were given was for setting up telephone booth. He said that there are several physically challenged persons who are graduates, postgraduates and technocrats and wanted financial assistance from bank as per their qualification. He lauded Corporation Bank for its encouragement in giving loans to people with disabilities. Assistant General Manager Corporation of Bank S Narendra Pai presided. President of Hassan Jilla Angavikalara Sangha Chandrasekhar Raje Urs and general secretary K.A. Narendra were present.
