Six killed in two road accidents

Belgaum: Six people were killed on the spot and 17 were injured in two accidents in Belgaum district on Sunday.

Four people were killed and 15 injured when the tractor in which they were travelling overturned near Mannikeri under Kulgod police station limits in Gokak taluk.

The injured have been admitted to government hospital in Umrani. They were returning to their village Kamaldini in Gokak taluk after attending a mass marriage ceremony in Bagojikoppa. The identity of the dead, including two women and a child, is yet to be established, according to the police.

Collision

In the other incident, two people were killed and two were injured after two motorcycles collided near Karikatti village under Saundatti police station limits.

The dead have been identified as Hanumanth G. (32) of Vaddebail in Khanapur taluk and Manjunath Madiwalappa Halemani (18) of Asundi village in Saundatti taluk, according to the police.

Manush Ramu Patil, one of the injured, has been admitted to government hospital.
