Central jail inmate dies in hospital

Jalandhar: An inmate of the Central Jail here on Sunday died in a civil hospital, where he had been recently admitted.

Paramjit Singh, a resident of Lakhanpal village in the district was booked under the NDPS Act, sources said.

He was admitted to hospital on April 18 after complaining of chest pain, they said.

His relatives alleged that he had died due to “excessive torture” by jail officials. — PTI
