The chief’s message: Janata Dal (S) president H.D. Deve Gowda addressing party workers in Hassan on Sunday. Hassan: Janata Dal (S) president and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has appealed to the people to vote for regional parties. Addressing party workers here on Sunday, he said that only regional parties could do them justice. Mr. Gowda said workers were the lifeline of the party. If they had any grievances, he would solve them. Mr. Gowda advised C.S. Putte Gowda and A.T. Ramaswamy, former MLAs, not to talk of political retirement. CallWithout naming H.C. Srikantaiah, who is contesting from Shravanabelagola and B. Shivaram from Hassan on a Congress ticket, Mr. Gowda advised party workers to work for their defeat. The former Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna also spoke. FundsMr. Gowda said if the regional parties were strong, it would help in getting more funds from the Centre for development. The Janata Dal (S) chief made this statement while speaking to presspersons at the helipad here. When his attention was drawn to the statement made by the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy that one should look at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, who headed a regional party, and that people should encourage regional outfits, Mr. Gowda said that what the former Chief Minister said was that if the regional parties were strong, it would help in securing more funds from the Centre for development.
