Rocking with fun: A scene from ‘Amrutham’ Comedy is not an easy affair and many a producer has burnt his fingers trying to send the audiences into peals of laughter. The net result: viewers were left with content that usually was either silly or just too crude to savour or even smile. There have been very few comedy serials or shows that actually managed to catch the attention and rose on the popularity charts. And high on the chart has been ‘Amrutham’ from Gangaraju. The serial with rollicking humour that made channels vie with one another to grab it and after what can be termed as a successful round, now comes on MAA TV. ‘Amrutham’ with Naresh, Harish, Shivaji Raja and Jhansi in the lead, opens on Monday and will promise some moments of real fun at 9 p.m. (Monday to Thursday). MAA has another ace up its sleeve and it comes in the form of the popular big screen actress Simran. Titled ‘Simran Marapurani Kathalu’, it is a daily serial that chronicles different stories handled by prominent directors. And the best part happens to be Simran playing the lead role in all of them. Sure, a casting coup for the channel. It does not stop with that. The channel also introduces actress Suhasini for the first time to Telugu television viewers in the role of an anchor with the show ‘Bommarillu’. She anchors the show, unique in its content, which has participants competing to win, hold your breath, a dream home! T. LALITH SINGH
