The vehicular traffic is increasing day-by-day at Ajitsingh Nagar and people moving on the flyover do not seem bothered about the speed limit. Particularly, the vehicular movement is high in the morning and evening hours and no traffic constable is seen on the surroundings. Though the roads are congested, vehicle riders race with each other in speed driving and there is no one to listen to the plight of the pedestrians. I request the officials concerned to arrange speed breakers on either side of the flyover and depute a constable at least during peak hours. A. Pattabhi Ajitsingh Nagar, Vijayawada Ground realityFrom Prime Minister to local leader, everyone speaks about transparency. Unfortunately, the ground reality is quite contrary to their statements. If a letter is written to a Government department either as a complaint or as a suggestion, the letter is not acknowledged at all. Even a reminder to that letter meets the same fate. With the advent of technology, office automation has become easier and not much time is needed to send acknowledgements. Heads of the departments should keep in mind that proper communication help them improve the image of the organisaiton for which they are working. C. Ram Mohun Old HB Colony, Vijayawada Release grants for aided school teachersWhile the teachers working in schools run by the Government and Zilla Parishads are going to draw their salaries for April a week in advance, before the closure of schools for summer holidays, it is sad to note that the teachers of aided and municipal schools are yet to get their salaries for March. Since the payment of salaries to aided teachers is being linked with release of educational grants, delay in payment has become a regular phenomenon. Keeping in view the problems of teachers working in aided schools, the Government should take steps to release the grants without delay. T.L. Kanta Rao Vijayawada Reading sessionBefore the advent of television, people found ample time to read books. Besides teachers, other professionals too used to spend their leisure in reading both English and vernacular literature. But, all these have become a thing of the past. Now, the young and old are glued to television sets. The objective of almost all educational institutions is to ensure a good rank to students in the annual examinations and entrance tests. In fact, reading deserves greater importance at all levels, especially in the tender age. A reading session should form part of the daily timetable in schools. H. Kalyan Rao Chandramouli Nagar, Guntur
