DESERVING HONOUR: Governor N.D. Tiwari honouring Bh. Krishnamurthy, former Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad, with the Telugu Bharathi award in Hyderabad on Sunday. HYDERABAD: Governor N.D. Tiwari has called for a study into relevance of Vedas in the 21st Century and asked Bhadriraju Krishnamurti, former Vice-Chancellor of Hyderabad Central University, to take the responsibility. A study in this field within the State was all the more required because of the presence of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University at Tirupati, Mr. Tiwari said after presenting the first Telugu Bharathi award to Prof. Krishnamurti here on Sunday. The award was instituted by the C.P. Brown Academy. The Governor paid rich tributes to C.P. Brown, an administrator of East India Company, as an illustrious promoter of Telugu in pre-independence era. Prof. Krishnamurti gave a detailed account of his works in Telugu literature and said the award presented by C.P. Brown Academy stood out among the laurels that he earned in his half century career. Avula Manjulatha, Vice-Chancellor of Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University also spoke on the occassion.
