Congress asks people to ‘confront’ Naidu

HYDERABAD: Deriding the “Mee Kosam yatra” being launched by Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu from Monday, the Congress Legislature Party has appealed to the people to confront him.

Taking a dig at the proposed programme, Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Government Whips-- S. Udayabhabu and D. Sridhar Babu -- wanted the people, farmers, women to raise 20 issues during his yatra.

They wanted people to remind the former Chief Minister whether it was not true that he had said clothes would be dried on the electric wires if free power was given. They should tell him that on nine occasions the power tariff was hiked when he was the Chief Minister, according to a press note issued here on Sunday.

People should question the TDP president on police firing on agitators protesting against power tariff hike, hike in price of rice scheme from Rs. 2-a-kg to Rs. 5.50-per-kg, exorbitant interest rates for loans disbursed to self help groups, neglect of irrigation sector, forcible collection of interest rates from farmers etc. and grant of meagre pension of Rs. 75 per month to the aged, disabled and widows.
