Mamata prevented from entering some areas of Nandigram

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee was prevented by demonstrators from entering certain areas of Nandigram Block I in West Bengal’s Purbo Medinipur district on Sunday.

There had been clashes between supporters of rival parties there.

“She was stopped from entering Pramanikpara following a demonstration by those belonging to the rival camp. Women personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force are deployed in the area,” District Superintendent of Police S.S. Panda told The Hindu over telephone.
