Thiruvananthapuram: The lack of inter-departmental coordination is responsible for the failure of successive flood-control projects in the capital city, Thiruvananthapuram East MLA V. Sivankutty said here on Sunday. In a press note on the eve of a meeting convened by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to discuss the problem of flooding, he said many projects had not achieved results because officials of the National Highways Authority of India, Railways, Public Works and Irrigation departments, City Corporation, Kerala Water Authority, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. and sewerage division failed to get their act together. “There has been no coordinated effort all these years. Departments work in isolation, often at cross purposes,” the MLA said.
