14-year-old Akash was kidnapped on August 10 Patna: The family of the teenaged schoolboy Akash has received a ransom letter for his safe release even as the Bihar police continue to grope in the dark to know his whereabouts nearly eight months after his abduction. The boy’s father, Yogendra Pandey, said he found the ransom letter demanding Rs.10 lakh stuck to the main door of his residence here on Sunday. The receipt of the letter was confirmed by city Superintendent of Police Anwar Hussain. “The letter claimed that Akash was safe and was in the custody of kidnappers.” “I have secured a copy of the letter as Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar asked me to inquire into its authenticity,” he said. The 14-year-old student of Class IX of DAV Public School here was kidnapped when he was on his way to school on August 10 last year. A special team was constituted to trace him. The State police headquarters had also announced a reward of Rs.1 lakh to those giving information about the whereabouts of the boy. – PTI
