CUTTACK: A passenger bus helper was killed and three policemen were injured when the Puri-bound Kolkata bus hit a police patrolling van from behind at Gandarpur of the city here on NH-5 in the wee hours of Monday. The body of the deceased, a native of West Bengal, was sent for post-mortem examination, while the injured policemen were discharged from hospital after treatment. The accident occurred when the Chauliganj police station personnel, after night patrolling, were returning to the station. The bus helper, Om Suman Gudia, fell down and the rear wheels of the bus crushed him to death. No other passenger of the bus was injured, said the police. Three policemen -- Sub-Inspector L.N. Tiwary, constable Yunus Mohammed and police driver Dilip Patra -- sustained minor injuries.
