ADILABAD: The TDP on Monday demanded inquiry into land acquisition for Rajiv Swagruha and immediate stopping of payment of compensation to persons who were supposed to have lost their lands for the project. Party leaders alleged that there are large-scale irregularities in the gamut of land acquisition. TDP spokesman Jogu Ramanna, Telugu Mahila district president G. Sujatha and Telugu Rythu district president B. Goverdhan Reddy alleged that Adilabad Tahsildar had proposed payment of compensation to at least six bogus claimants. They pointed out that there need be no private claimants for the lands lost as the extent of 106 acres acquired in survey No. 72 of Batti Sawargaon village was Government land. They sought a clarification from Collector Ahmad Nadeem on whether he is aware of the issue as allegedly claimed by the Tahsildar. Circulating copies of income, residence and dependent certificates alleged to have been issued by the Tahsildar in question, the leaders said these certificates were issued without proper verification. This matter also needs to be inquired into, they demanded. A memorandum with more details will be submitted to the Collector on Tuesday, the leaders said.
