Five members of a gang nabbed

POLLACHI: Five of a seven member masked gang, which struck at a farm house at Nanjegounden Pudur, near Pollachi, was nabbed near Eechanari, on the outskirts of Coimbatore on Saturday night.

Pollachi West Police said that a gang of seven, came on a jeep struck at a farm house at Nanjegounden Pudur. On knife point, they taken away Rs. 6,500, two mobile phones and jewellery from Vijaya Devaki (44) and her relative Vellingiri (50). In the melee Vellingiri sustained injuries in his palm.

The gang escaped after tying the hands of the duo with rope. After an hour, based on their alert, the police intercepted the gang near Eechanari.

Naveen Kumar (24), Sasi (18) and Siva (25) of Kanthal and Manikandan (22) and Ramesh (25) of Pudhu Mandhu of the Nilgiris district were arrested.

The police launched a man hunt to nab two more persons who had managed to escape.
