NATA, an online exam, is devised by the Council of Architecture NEW DELHI: The Council of Architecture has announced that the National Aptitude Test in Architecture-2008 is mandatory for all those interested in seeking admission to the Bachelor of Architecture programme taught in different institutions across the country. NATA is an online examination devised by the Council to fulfil the mandatory requirement of an aptitude test prior to taking admission into the first year of the B. Arch. degree course at any COA-approved architectural institutions. NATA was introduced by the Council in 2006-2007 in order to do away with the exercise of conducting different aptitude tests by the schools/authorities in various States and to avoid inconvenience to students, thus providing a single window system for admissions by subjecting them to a common aptitude test at the national level. However, some institutions offering B. Arch. have allegedly not been following the guidelines and not informing the students about the significance of NATA. A student needs to have studied mathematics as one of the subjects at Class XII along with an aggregate of 50 per cent marks to be eligible for admission to the five-year B. Arch. course through NATA. The NATA information brochure, list of centres and other related details are available at www.nata.in
