Protest against denial of ticket

KOLAR: Scores of supporters of the former MLA Nagaraj staged a protest at Malur on Monday in protest against the denial of Congress ticket to their leader.

Mr. Nagarj was not nominated to contest the Assembly elections from Malur because he lost the last elections by a margin of more than 15,000 votes. Instead, the candidature of Krishna Singh, a zilla panchayat member and a close associate of the former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh, was approved by the party high command.

Mr. Nagaraj has threatened to contest as an independent if the party does not reconsider its decision. — Staff Correspondent
