Andhra Pradesh teachers sound a warning

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Representatives of various teachers unions have warned the Government against closure of Government schools in the name of education reforms or lack of strength.

Participating in a meeting organised by the Education Department on reforms in school education, here on Monday, leaders of State Teachers Union, Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh United Teachers Federation and AP Teachers Federation said the closure of these schools would prove to be death knell for the poor and middle class students.

The reforms should aim at strengthening these schools, they said in separate statements.
