Need for metro rail
This is in response to story published on road widening in these columns on April 8. Three-fourths of the growth and expansion of the city is only towards the eastern part where residential colonies, mostly of the affluent families, are springing up. The phenomenal increase in the vehicular traffic only adds to the cup of woes of the commuters, including the affluent ones. Traffic jams would soon be a recurring feature on this road. Hence, an elevated rail or metro rail from the police control room to NTR circle is the only remedy. Reputed companies like L&T or Maytas may be asked to design, construct, and operate without any participation of the government.
