PUDUCHERRY: A local court here on Tuesday directed the police to register a case against Under Secretary V. Kannabiran for allegedly committing irregularities in the appointment of ministerial staff.

The ruling was given based on a complaint filed by Janakiraman Reddiyar seeking action against Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, former Chief Secretary C.S. Khairwal for regularising 96 ministerial staff even as a stay order of the Madras High Court was in place.

Admitting the petition, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kaliamurthi directed the Grand Bazaar police to register a case and conduct an enquiry against Mr. Kannabiran alone.
