BERHAMPUR: Two criminals, involved in the indiscriminate firing in front of the Dharakote block premises in Ganjam district last month, were arrested on Tuesday. Two persons were killed and another was seriously injured in the firing. According to the police, the two arrested persons were Ganga Sethi and Mohan Das. Ganga was arrested from Shergarh village while Mohan alias Kalia was arrested from Begapalli village near Huma. Both of them were being interrogated in the Aska police station to find out the reason behind the attack. Mohan has past criminal record. He was wanted by the police in relation to the armed robbery of Pratappur branch of the RGB in Ganjam district in November last. On March 28, a group of around four masked persons reached the Dharakote block office in a jeep while a meeting of the block level consumer committee was being held inside the office. The meeting was being attended by Surada MLA Kishore Chandra Singhdeo, Dharakote block chairman Shanti Devi and block officials. The miscreants had fired at the persons waiting outside the block office. Three persons had received bullet wounds, two of whom died.
