TD delaying list for Left parties’ decision

Special Correspondent

Kadiam Srihari will contest from Station Ghanpur, says Goud

HYDERABAD: Senior TDP leader T. Devender Goud said the party was delaying the release of the candidates’ list for the coming byelections, as it wants to wait for Left parties’ response to seat sharing.

Mr. Goud told presspersons that the party was continuing its talks with both CPI (M) and CPI leaders. The two parties sought time to discuss among themselves in their own party meetings.

To another question, he made it clear that party’s senior leader, Kadiam Srihari would contest from Station Ghanpur consitutency in Warangal and that there was no change as was speculated by a section of media. Mr. Srihari had expressed his own views and clarified his stand to the party. “He is a senior leader. There is no problem, he will contest and win hands down, like all other TD candidates in the region”. Asked to react to Mr. Goud’s hope of forging an alliance with Left parties, the CPI (M) floor leader in Assembly, Nomula Narasimhaiah said such decisions were taken by the party after elaborate consultations. The State Secretariat met today and might have discussed the issue.

He said the party would take a decision on alliances keeping the interest of the people in mind. From opposing communalism to agitating on price hike, the party was always in the forefront fighting for the cause of the people, he said.
