TRS sits pretty as feuds grip rival parties in Aler

S. Ramu

ALER (NALGONDA DT.): More than the Telangana sentiment, internal bickering in rival camps is doing the trick for the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) at Aler, the lone Assembly segment that is going for byelections in the district.

K. Nagesh, a doctor by profession, who was the first MLA to offer his resignation to the party president, is sitting pretty as group feuds in the Telugu Desam and the Congress are reaching new heights day by day.

A stalwart leader Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, who won the seat three times on TD ticket, once as a Congress nominee and another time as an Independent, he is feeling the heat as a strong group within the TDP is making moves against him. His relations with the party vice-president Gutta Sukhender Reddy have always been sore.Well aware of prevailing Telangana sentiment, Mr. Narasimhulu started covering important villages to revive his traditional vote bank. Simultaneously, he reportedly asked the high command to initiate action against Mr. Sukhender Reddy, if it wished him to see as the party candidate at Aler.

Meanwhile, a strong group of Congress leaders led Telangana Development Board chairman Vuppunuthala Purushoottam Reddy are not in a combat mood. Their support to the TRS is an open secret in the constituency.

Working out strategies

Minister R. Damodar Reddy and the District Congress Committee president S. Mallesh Goud are working out strategies to mobilise the cadres in favour of the party nominee. A mega exercise to wean away a group from the Ramannapet MLA has begun at Hyderbad level.

“Aler people will give a historic judgment in the byelections. We will expose Mr. Narasimhulu as well as Mr. Nagesh for their failure to develop the constituency,” Mr. Goud told The Hindu.

The DCC chief said: “If a separate State is formed, it is well and good. My argument is that we shouldn’t neglect development at this stage,” he said arguing that the people “are very happy” with the developmental works launched bythe Congress government.
