Dibbapalem oustees want to make use of Praja Patham

Chief Minister’s promises yet to be fulfilled

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Gangavaram Port Dibbapalem Displaced Persons Ikya Vedika, which is agitating for a long to achieve a just rehabilitation programme for the Dibbapalem villagers who will be displaced due to Gangavaram port, decided to utilise the Praja Patham programme of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

“Since Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy had promised to provide all facilities, whether the people asked for it or not during his interaction with people during the Praja Patham, we want him to visit our village and redress all our grievances”, said Ganta Papa Rao of the Ikya Vedika.

Demands

Among the Dibbapalem villagers’ demands were construction of an ideal village, provision of permanent employment and security, housing, pension for senior citizens, and overall social and economic security.

The Ikya Vedika said the promises of employment, compensation, etc. made by the local MLA and port management before the construction of the port commenced and supported by the Government GOs were not kept. Not even half of the promised compensation was paid and the port construction all around the village posing great danger to the people. Some sections of the people were not given monthly allowance while false cases were foisted on the Ikya Vedika leaders, it alleged.

The Ikya Vedika wanted City Congress Committee president Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and Collector to bring its request to the Chief Minister to solve the villagers problems through Praja Patham.
