THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Cooperation and Devaswoms G. Sudhakaran has said the government has not thought of taking over the Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu temples in Thrissur district. The Minister said here on Tuesday that though the government had received memorandums seeking the takeover of some temples and return of some of temples taken over in the past, it had taken no action on them. The rules permit government to take over the administration of temples. However, since the government had not considered any such takeover, the temple authorities should stop the clamour over alleged move of government to takeover the temples. PolicyMr. Sudhakaran said the government policy was against politicisation of Devaswoms. The CPI(M) had not demanded the takeover of Thiruvambadi or Paramekkavu temples. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government only protected temples and received the support from the believers.
