Thrissur: The Kerala Sahitya Akademi awards for 2007 were announced here on Tuesday by Akademi president M. Mukundan and secretary Purushan Kadalundi. The following are the award-winners: Novel: K. Raghunathan (Pathira Vankara); poetry: Cherian K. Cherian (Cheriyan K. Cheriyante Therenjedutha Kavithakal); drama: Francis T. Mavelikara (Dravidavritham); short-story: Shihabuddin Poythumkadavu (Therenjedutha Kathakal); literary criticism: K.P. Mohanan (Idassery Kavitha — Silpavicharam); scholarly literature: S.K. Vasanthan (Kerala Samskara Charithra Nighandu); biography/autobiography: Parvathy Pavanan (Pavana Parvam); travelogue: Shoukat (Himalayam); translation: Thomas Nadakkal (Don Quixote); and children’s literature: S. Sivadas (Pusthakakkalikal). The awards carry a purse of Rs.20,000, citation and plaque each. No literary work has been selected for the award in the category of humour. K.G. Poulose (Laghu Samskritham), Asha Menon (Shradhaswarangal), C.M. Neelakantan (Sruthi Saurabham), Manoj Kuroor (Comma), M.P. Parameswaran (Jeevarekha) and K. Rekha (Arudeyo Oru Sakhavu) have been selected for the I.C. Chacko Award, C.B. Kumar Award, K.R. Namboodiri Award, Kanakasree Award, G. N. Pillai Award and Geeta Hiranyan Award respectively. No literary work has been selected for the Bombay Nataka Vedi Award.
