CMA visits Corporation’s project worksites
Staff Reporter
Coimbatore: Commissioner for Municipal Administration (CMA), Niranjan Mardi, along with the Corporation Commissioner, V.K. Shanmugam on Tuesday visited the various worksites of the projects to be implemented by the Coimbatore Corporation under the Jawarharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
Mr. Mardi visited the Velliangadu Water Treatment plant under the Pilloor Drinking Water Supply scheme.
The visit gains significance in the wake of the Corporation’s efforts to commence the works for the dedicated second phase of the water supply scheme exclusively for the city. The CMA held discussions on the pace of the work and reviewed the progress. Later, the Commissioner visited the Kavundampalayam and Ondipudur garbage dump yards of the civic body, which are being closed.
Mr. Mardi also visited the site for the proposed Sewage Treatment Plants at Ukkadam, Nanjundapuram and Ondipudur. Mr. Mardi later visited the site where the Corporation under the JNNURM has proposed to provide houses under the project “Basic services to the Urban Poor”.
He visited Anjaneyar Colony, Noyyal Nagar and Bannari Amman Nagar.
