William D. Green MUMBAI: Global IT major Accenture on Tuesday said it expected to increase its India headcount to 50,000 from the present 37,000 within a year. “We are looking at India headcount to be about 50,000 in a year,” Accenture Chairman and CEO William D. Green told reporters here. Globally, the company plans to make 60,000 gross additions to its workforce by August end. Asked on the shortage of employable workforce in India, Mr. Green said the company was facing no such crisis as it had been consistently investing in training manpower. “We had spent $780 million globally to train people and are not facing talent woes... We are a big human capital company and all we need is good raw material,” Mr. Green said. On India business he said, Accenture aspires to build a good consulting business here and sees opportunities in financial services and government businesses. Accenture said it had not seen any cancellations or deferrals of orders from its clients as fallout of the U.S. sub-prime crisis, which has globally hit the financial sector hard. — PTI
