Varinder Singh bags title

BANGALORE: Col. Varinder Singh of ASC bagged the individual title with a score of 80 in the Karnataka and Kerala sub-area golf tournament at the ASC Course here recently. Lt. Col. S.S. Sambyal, also of ASC, finished the runner-up, while Shalini Kapoor of Belgaum won the ladies event.

Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala Area (ATNK&K) Headquarters team from Chennai won the team title.

V.N. SC posts win

V.N. Sports Club defeated Southern Blues in the boys’ section of the State Junior basketball championship at the Sree Kanteerava stadium courts here on Tuesday. The championship is being held for the Prof. D.N. Rajanna Trophy for boys and Sosale Trophy for girls.

Bangalore Sporting had a profitable day with both its boys’ and girls’ teams recording convincing victories. While its boys downed YMMA 47-18 with Adithya accounting for 14 points, the Sporting girls outclassed Vimanaopura SC 33-16.

Sunil on song

Off-spinner Sunil N. Raju’s match haul of 12 for 139 helped Friends Union CC (1) defeat Vultures CC by three wickets in a KSCA Group I, first division league match here recently.

The scores: Vultures CC 170 in 50.5 overs (Rohit 56 n.o., Sunil N. Raju six for 81) and 207 in 44.5 overs (Anirudh Joshi 74, Sunil N. Raju six for 58) lost to Friends Union CC (1) 256 in 55.5 overs (Shyam Ponnappa 91, D.V. Anish 72 n.o., A. Mithun five for 44) and 122 for seven in 50.5 overs (Anirudh Joshi four for 44).

Social Cricketers 118 in 40 overs (Vijay Karthik 42, Anand Katti six for 23) and 235 for nine in 61 overs (Sudhindra Shinde 72, Vijay Karthik 41, Anand Katti six for 73) drew with Malleswaram Gymkhana 162 in 49.5 overs (Sunil Kumar Jain 40, C. Raghavendra four for 53, Ryan Ninan four for 34) and 128 for six in 48 overs (S.P. Manjunath 54, Ryan Ninan six for 60).

Bangalore Cricketers 264 in 74 overs (Sunil Kumar five for 51) bt Jupiter CA 146 in 40.3 overs (G. Vinay four for 35) and 107 in 25.1 overs (Lingaraj 40, Nelson Pinto six for 19); Jawans CC 620 in 114.3 overs (Chethan William 112, Mayank Agarwal 111, C.M. Hockey trials

The Dhanraj-Ballal Hockey Academy will conduct trials for under-17 boys (born on or after June 1, 1990) at the KSHA Stadium in Bangalore on April 26 and 27 from 6.30 a.m.
