Semifinalists spotted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Host Thiruvananthapuram, defending champion Kollam and Ernakulam entered the semifinals in the men’s section of the State senior ball badminton championships at the Central stadium here on Tuesday.

In the women’s section, defending champion Thrissur, Malappuram, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram entered the semifinals.

The results: Men (quarterfinals): Kollam bt Kottayam 29-11, 29-14, Ernakulam bt Kozhikode 29-16, 29-11; Thiruvananthapuram bt Thrissur 29-28, 29-5.

League: Kollam bt Ernakulam 29-18, 29-14; Thiruvananthapuram bt Malappuram 29-26, 29-9; Pathanamthitta bt Thrissur 29-22, 29-9; Kozhikode bt Kottayam 29-11, 29-9; Alappuzha bt Pathanamthitta 29-19, 29-27; Thrissur bt Alappuzha 29-9, 29-10.
