Easy for Mohammedan Sporting
KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting weathered initial pressure to down Indian Bank 2-0 in the I-League second division finals at the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati, on Tuesday.
Having lost their first round matches, both the teams looked for a win to keep their chances of qualifying for the I-League first division alive.
Indian Bank, making occasional defensive errors, could not sustain a confident start. Mohammedan Sporting, with the mercurial Mike Okoro leading its attack, grabbed the first opportunity which came its way. Creating the space with a solo effort, Okoro gave the Kolkata outfit the lead in the eighth minute.
The Okoro factor worked again in Mohammedan Sporting’s favour in the 35th minute when he found A. Jyothi Kumar and the latter followed up with a half-volley to make it 2-0.
