Gram sabha meetings

Krishnagiri: The gram sabha meetings at all the 337 village panchayats in the district will be held on May 1 in connection with May Day.
Observers have been deputed to all panchayats to monitor and aid in the smooth functioning of the gram sabha meetings, Collector Santhosh Babu has said.
Besides presenting the budget for approval, the meetings should discuss Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, Namakku Naame Thittam, National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005, its objectives, beneficiaries under this Act, responsibilities of village panchayats in this regard, works to be carried out under the NREG Act, allocation of works, salary to be given for the labourers etc.
Officials from various departments would participate in the meeting to explain the schemes implemented and the welfare programmes to be executed in their village panchayat.
The meetings would discuss abolition of child labour and list development programmes approved by the panchayats, besides considering selection of beneficiaries under the Sampoorna Grama Employment Scheme, and creating awareness among villagers on the subjects of HIV and AIDS.
