To stage hunger strikes from May 1 One-day token strike on May 15 Thiruvananthapuram: Doctors in the government service are preparing to intensify their non-cooperation strike, which they had resumed on March 13, over the government’s refusal to revise the pay scale of doctors. At a press conference held here on Wednesday, the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) said the doctors were forced to intensify their strike. The government, while claiming that the doctors’ salary revision could be considered only in the next Pay Commission, had chosen to revise the pay scales of Administrative Assistants and Accounts Officers in the Health Department, who are drawing the same pay scale as doctors. From May 1, doctors will stage hunger strikes in front of the Secretariat and at all district headquarters. BoycottThey will also boycott private practice on those respective days in districts. On May 15, all government doctors will take part in a one-day token strike by boycotting all hospital duties except emergency services and care of in-patients in hospital wards.
