Pay arrears, sugar mills told

Managements of sugar mills directed to pay arrears of 2007 by end of May Take initiative in solving the pertinent problems faced by the farmers: Collector
Sangareddy: Medak Collector Piyush Kumar directed managements of two sugar mills in the district to pay arrears of 2007 to farmers by the end of May. According to a press release here on Wednesday the Collector, along with J.S. G. Prasad, Commissioner Sugar, organised a meeting with the representatives of Trident and Ganapathi sugar mills.
Speaking with them the Collector asked them to maintain cordial relationship with the farmers. He asked them to take initiate in solving the pertinent problems faced by the farmers. He reminded them that they have assured him about the payment of arrears and also a better price for the sugarcane.
He expressed concern over the indifferent attitude of the management of mills. He suggested the mills to add Rs. 50 and pay Rs. 1,100 per ton to the farmers this year. He advised the mills to take couple of days to discuss the issue among themselves and inform the decision to the administration in time or face action. Director of Ganapathi sugars P.M. Nayar, executive director Janaki Manohar, Trident mill adviser Narasimham, Sugarcane commissioner Venkatrao also participated in the meeting.
