Traffic hit as a result of processions Six candidates have sought election till now BELLARY: The former Ministers M. Diwakar Babu and B. Sriramulu were among five candidates who filed their nomination papers here on Wednesday, taking the number of nominations filed to six. Mr. Babu has sought to contest as a Janata Dal (Secular) candidate from Bellary (city), while Sriramulu of the Bharatiya Janata Party has filed his papers for the Bellary Assembly constituency. Corporator and president of the district unit of the BJP G. Somashekar Reddy and the former MLA M.S. Somalingappa also filed their nomination papers for the Bellary (city) and Sirguppa Assembly constituencies respectively. Mr. Babu came out in a padayatra from Mundlur Gangappa Gin in Millerpet area, along with several supporters to the City Corporation Office to submit his papers. Mr. Sriramulu and Mr. Reddy also came in a procession from Durgamma temple to the taluk office and Corporation office respectively. The police allowed only four persons along with the candidate while submitting the nominations. Their supporters were stopped 200 metres away from the venue. The movement of vehicular traffic on roads near the venue had been affected.
