THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The organisers have cancelled the ‘Burning illusion’ programme featuring actor Mohanlal that was to be held at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium here on April 27 as a prelude to the international magic festival, ‘Vismayam 2008.’ Magician Gopinath Muthukad said here on Wednesday that the show was cancelled taking into consideration the pleas of fans and well-wishers. He contended that the act could have been done without any danger at all because of intensive training. He added that it was being abandoned because of the unhealthy controversies which it had led to. Meanwhile Law Minister M.Vijayakumar said in reply to questions at a press conference that he addressed earlier during the day that it was up to Mohanlal to decide whether he should participate in the programme or not. The programme was announced much in advance and the actor was undergoing training for it. He was also confident of doing the programme. He added that it was not a government-sponsored programme. The Government only supported it through the Youth Welfare Board.
