Mammootty told to keep off Microsoft
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Mammootty’s reported move to associate with Microsoft’s e-literacy campaign in the State has raised the hackles of the Free Software community in the State.
Expressing ‘deep disappointment’ about the decision of the ‘Bharat’ award-winning actor in an open letter released for publication here on Tuesday, the Free Software community said Mammootty’s support for the Microsoft project would seriously undermine his role as a socially committed artiste, progressive media leader and sympathiser of leftist politics.
“People of Kerala will be bewildered to see that you are lending your name and fame to support a devastatingly nefarious techno-monopolistic campaign unleashed by Microsoft in our State,” the letter said. — Special Correspondent
