Devi Lal’s son to take on Bhajan Lal

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: The Congress has decided to field Ranjit Singh, son of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, against former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal in the Assembly by-election from Adampur.

The party has also decided to field Jagbir Singh Malik in the Gohana by-election and Bhim Sen Mehta in the Indri by-election.

The three by-elections, scheduled for May 22, were necessitated after Mr. Bhajan Lal (Adampur), Dharampal Singh Malik (Gohana) and Rakesh Kamboj (Indri) were disqualified as MLAs by the Haryana Vidhan Speaker Raghubir Singh Kadian when they left the Congress and joined the newly-floated Haryana Janhit Congress.
