PU admissions to begin on April 28

Bangalore: The Department of Pre-University Education has directed all colleges running pre-university courses in the State to start distributing the application forms to students from April 28. According to an official press release here on Wednesday, the colleges have been directed to continue to distribute the application forms till five days after the results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examinations are declared.

The release said that the application fee should not exceed Rs. 15. It also said that the colleges should not make the students buy the prospectus. However, those interested, may buy the prospectus on their own accord. The colleges have been directed to sell the application forms and prospectus at separate counters.

The release added that colleges had been directed to put up information about the number of seats, fees, the list of selected candidates and other relevant information on their notice boards and also on their official websites.

Training

The department will also conduct a 10-day Induction Training Programme in May and June for the 479 lecturers selected for the Government colleges with PU courses. The induction programme will be common training programme that will be held in three phases across the State. All the lecturers have to compulsorily attend the programme.

In the first phase, 11 districts will be covered. The programme will be held from May 14 to 23. Lecturers from Bangalore Urban, Bangalroe Rural, Kolar, Tumkur and Chikballapur will attend the programme at NMKRV College in the city, while those from Mandya and Ramanagar will attend it at the Government PU College, Mandya. For the teachers from Mysore, Hassan, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar, the programme will be held at St. Philomena PU College, Mysore.

In the second phase, 10 districts will be covered in the programme to be held from May 19 to 28. In the third phase, eight districts will be covered in the programme to be held between May 30 and June 8, the release added.
