“Kerala demanding cash for giving water”
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Kerala is demanding cash for giving water to Tamil Nadu from the Neyyar, Public Works Department Minister Durai Murugan informed the Assembly on Wednesday.
Replying to Theodore Reginald’s question regarding supply of water through the Thiruvidancode canal, Mr. Durai Murugan said there was no water available in the area for supply through the canal. The water had to come from the Neyyar, but Kerala consistently refused to let adequate quantity flow through the river. It had demanded money for diverting water to Tamil Nadu. “Kerala is the only State that demands money for letting water to another State,” he said.
He said this was not acceptable to Tamil Nadu.
