Distribution of free TV sets in Kanyakumari from Saturday: Collector

Nagercoil: The distribution of free television sets would be resumed on Saturday, said the Collector B. Jothi Nirmala.

Steps had already been taken to initiate action against the culprits. The Government had distributed 96,000 television sets so far in the district. The remaining 10,000 beneficiaries, who had been identified by the Revenue official, would be distributed with the sets at the earliest.

However the president of Revenue Officials Association in the district, Prabhakaran, said that the district administration had sent a detailed report to the Government.

“Let us wait and watch the response of the Government. Unless the employees get a positive reply, they will not continue distributing the television sets’, said Mr. Prabhakaran.

Meanwhile, Government employees staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate to urge the Government to take immediate steps against those who tried to assault the Deputy Collector.
