Thousands of devotees witness kumbabhishekam

TIRUNELVELI: Amidst chanting of ‘Harahara Siva Siva…’ slogans, thousands of devotees from various parts of the State witnessed the kumbhabhishekam of Sankaranarayana Swamy Temple at Sankarankoil on Wednesday.

After sixth ‘kaala’ yaagasaala puja at 3 a.m., special prayers were conducted in the temple before the ‘kumbhabhishekam’ at all nine towers simultaneously at 5.50 a.m.

Led by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tirunelveli Range, P. Kannappan, strong police force had been deployed all over Sankarankovil to ensure the safety of devotees and effect traffic diversions.

Collector G. Prakash, chairman of Ramco Groups P.R. Ramasubrahmaneya Rajha, District Revenue Officer G. Srinivasan and donors were among those who witnessed the rituals.

Koliyankulam

Thousands witnessed the ‘kumbhabhishekam’ of Sri Muththaaramman Sri Santhanamariamman and Sri Uchchi Maakaaliyamman Temples at Koliyankulam on Wednesday.

‘Thiruvilakku puja’ was conducted in the evening.
