This Day That Age
The Estimates Committee of the Lok Sabha has suggested that the number of engineers and other scientific and technical personnel of different categories turned out by various universities and institutions should be “linked up” with the Five-Year Plan as in some advanced countries which had accepted State Planning a policy of the Government. The suggestion, which has been made in view of the general shortage of technical personnel, is contained in the tenth report of the Committee, that has considered various problems connected with technical education. Hoping that the country would be faced with no such shortage during the Third Plan period, the committee has pointed out the need for constant watch by the newly set-up Directorate of Manpower.
